Beatrice Piatarihi Tui Yates (née Grant) QSM MNZM JP was known affectionately by Rotorua locals as Aunty Bea. She was born in Rotorua on 11 September 1939, at Mourea, beside the Ohau Channel. She died in 2018. Aunty Bea is remembered as a treasured entertainer, author, teacher and leader within her community.

In this interview, she discusses growing up in Rotorua, kura kaupapa, and the promotion of Mātauranga Māori, Te Reo Māori and kapahaka.
